Instructions


Pizza:

1/ Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly brush baking sheet with oil.

2/ Spoon 4 tsp tomato sauce on each Mini Pita. Sprinkle with cheese.

3/ Top each with green pepper and tomatoes. Place on prepared pan.

4/ Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.

5/ Sprinkle with basil (optional).

 

Tomato Sauce:

1/ Heat oil in medium saucepan set over medium heat.

2/ Add onion, garlic and oregano. Stir in tomato paste; cook for 1 minute.

3/ Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until slightly thickened.

4/ 4 days or store in airtight container and freeze for up to 1 month.

 

Tips:


  • If pressed for time, use store-bought pizza sauce.
  • Look for tomato paste in tubes for less waste or freeze leftover tomato paste.
  • Cool sauce and store, covered, in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
